Sobre la elección de carreras científicas y tecnológicas

Abstract

In the knowledge society, science and technology are increasingly necessary for the development of a country. However, a low number of young people who chose these careers, all over the world. Understanding this low interest and more precisely the motivations for career choice has been addressed around the world since low enrollment represents a problem for industrialized countries. Nevertheless, there is no agreement on the identification and weight of the various structural and subjective causes that influence the choice of career. This factors and their relative weight have a strong cultural and social component linked to the local context. In this work we review studies about the choice of careers related to natural sciences and engineering in Argentina. This analysis leads us to suggest several features to improve the situation.
