Abstract

This article aims to contribute to the reflection on the social representations of gender in classical Peronism, between the years 1946 and 1955, from the analysis of different sports exploits that had broad state support and great media coverage. Various sources will be addressed, ranging from newspaper clippings to testimonies of the actors themselves. From them follows a continuity of the dominant stereotypes in the stories of the men's tests - the ascent to the Himalayas, the automobile race Buenos Aires / Caracas and the sailing trip from Buenos Aires to New York - and significant changes regarding femininity in concerning the exploits of Enriqueta Duarte swimming across the English Channel and Ana Beker joining Buenos Aires - Otawa on horseback. These latest epics can be interpreted in line with the new spaces that women conquered where the figure of Eva Perón stands as a symbol of these transformations.
