Abstract
In this paper we study the patterns of verbal agreement in Spanish passive and impersonal se sentences. We argue, first, that both types of se essentially occur in the same configuration and, moreover, that they form a natural class with others se constructions, i.e., the paradigmatic ones. Secondly, we show that the differences between passive and impersonal se should not be attributed to the syntax but to properties related to morphological agreement at PF. We claim that a morphological agreement relationship can be established with T as long as an internal argument is syncretic with nominative DPs and se does not intervene. If the internal argument is morphologically case marked or se intervenes, then PF assigns morphological default agreement on T.
